One of Barcelona’s most entertaining and romantic places to visit at night is the Plaça d’Espanya Magic Fountain. We actually came across it in a tourist book and were determined to see it.

Before our trip to Barcelona, Spain, we had mapped out sites that we knew we wanted to see. Ramblas Street, La Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, the market, and of course, the Plaça d’Espanya Magic Fountain Barcelona. We ended up seeing all of the other sites first and saved the fountains for last.
And to make a long story short, after a few mishap destinations with our GPS – and one night of finally arriving but the fountain was not working – we finally managed to catch the show. And what a show it is!
Seriously, it was worth all the trouble of trying to find it! And the whole night was indeed magical as they call it.
The fountains are made up of various layers of small to large fountains and sit in front of the Palau Nacional. They reach all the way to the Plaça.
The show is spectacular, lasting for most of the night, depending on the season. The water displays sync with music and colors – a whimsical and entertaining experience. There are various vantage points of seeing the show – from the top of the Placa to watching it from the bottom. I have to admit that we stayed long enough to watch it from pretty much every angle, and each one was awesome!
With any trip to Barcelona, its a definite MUST SEE… see for yourself:
